Final results of the event

216.93 km/h, this is the new record of the mythical track of the Mt Fort. The speed established in 2007 during the World Championships has finally been beaten. The 2009 season finished with a fantastic final from almost the top of the track with excellent conditions ! The duel Origone-May which lasted all winter continued during this run. The two skiers are so close and just in front of the Austrian skier Klaus Schrottshammer who realized a promising speed of 212.60 km/h.
On the ladies side, the great star of the season Sanna Tristrand is again in front of the other ones with a speed of 209.90 km/h before her countrywoman Linda Baginski and the French skier Karine Dubouchet.
The track of the Mt Fort was also the scene of two national records : the Russian one, thanks to Nikolay Pimkin and his 210.07 km/h and the Polish one, thanks to Jedrzej Dobrowolski and his 208.15 km/h.

In Speed Downhill, the Austrian skier Markus Munser wins just behind the 200 km/h limit, ahead of our countryman and world champion of this category Gregory Meichtry and the French Matthieu Sage.

The Swiss championship was gained for the 5th consecutive year by Philippe May. At the second rank, Jonathan Moret ahead of the surprise of the day : the bi-national Ricardo Adaraga.
In Speed Downhill, Gregory Meichtry wins before Sylvain Dubuis and Reto Eigenmann.

This year, the « parallels » sports were well represented with monoskiers, a snowboarder and our national snowscooter Yann Grandjean who improves his world record with a speed of 143.34 km/h.

The bad weather did not allow the full organization of the replacement of Cervinia. Therefore, the first part of the week was dedicated to the FIS World Cup final. Once again, the duel Origone-May was intense during the different runs and was finally arbitrated by Jonathan Moret who took the second rank.
On the ladies side, the 2 runs could be run and again Sanna Tidstrand won. Tracie Sachs took the second rank twice - good return after her injury. The Italian Elena Banfo was third in the 2 runs.
In SDH, Gregory Meichtry won in front of Marc Poncin and Matthieu Sage.

As usual, I would like to thank all the skiers from 14 different countries… but I want to especially thank all the persons who helped and the volunteers who did a huge work. Without them, it is obvious that such an event could not be possible. Their good humor and their every day firmness allowed the XSpeedSki 09 to be a complete success.
I hope we will be able to count on such an exceptional team for our next edition.

I wish you all a good summer and hope to see you in April 2010 for an XSpeedSki even more spectacular... with a start even ... higher !!!
